There are a number of interesting things about this collection. Teddy Grant is by a well-respected comic artist called Tommy Lee Edwards and it is interesting that he is moving into the online form. The others are from largely young artists trying to break into the business.

The various projects show a wide variety of graphic styles. I like the use of light and colour exhibited in Tanatos, although I am not all that impressed with the character artwork. The monochrome of NYC2123 is very strong, but I think colour works better on todays high resolution screens. The Requiem work is interesting in that it uses a computer generated process (it looks like it may have been produced using an application like FrameForge). I am not overly impressed with the result, but that may have something to do with the process rather than execution. Of particular interest is Meanwhile because it has both a very naive style, and also uses multiple storylines that can be followed depending on the viewer’s choices.

It is interesting to note that many of the online graphic novels continue to use the environments, conventions and story worlds that have been popular in graphic fiction for a long time; such as horror, sci-fi, and crime.
